Our Mission Statement

BB Camp is dedicated to provide a comprehensive Jewish camping experience and leadership development opportunity for youth.

We are committed to teach campers to be responsible members of their community, to learn to live and play cooperatively with other children and adults, to make decisions, to learn new skills and master old ones, to be expressive and to have fun in a safe and supportive environment. BB Camp is committed to providing the finest summer experience for today’s campers while preparing them to be tomorrow’s community leaders. We strive to teach the values and ethics of Jewish living by example, experience, and creative expression.

Since its first summer of operation in 1919, BB Camp has grown from a basic boys and girls camp into a leading organized Jewish residential camping facility in North America.

BB Camp was originally situated in Sandy Hook, Manitoba and offered short term resident camping programs to hundreds of Manitoba Jewish youth. In 1954, under the leadership and vision of Sylvan Leipsic, BB Camp moved to its present site in Lake of the Woods in Kenora, Ontario (two and half hour drive east of Winnipeg) and began to offer programs that focused on a Jewish outward bound wilderness experience. Located on Town Island, 10 km south of Kenora, BB Camp has been a leader of Jewish resident camp in western Canada and has consistently proven to be a great place for youth to learn about themselves, their identity, their environment, and how to relate to others.

BB Camp is affiliated with the Jewish Community Center Association (JCC Association) and is fully accredited by the Manitoba Camping Association (MCA).
