Program Sessions
BB Camp offers a wide range of age appropriate, educational and recreational opportunities. Campers will enjoy socializing and learning with their small cabin groups as well in larger age based (sectional) programming. Each section consists of several age specific cabins of eight – ten campers and two counselors and under the guidance of a section head.
First Session (13 days)
Habonim (8 Years)
Campers born in 2003
Our youngest campers get a chance to explore what is often their first home away from home experience in smaller cabin ratios and with staff who have a strong appreciation for working with small children. All of the activities that BB Camp can often is packed in this four day introductory program. BB Camp’s annual Teddy Bear Picnic provides the initial foundation for eating outside and enjoying the outdoors.
Taste of BB (9 Years)
Campers born in 2002
We create all of the excitement and adventure of BB Camp into a wonderful week long session option geared for second year campers or those who haven't previously experienced resident camping. Campers have a chance to “taste” every specialty program by cabin group and participate in sectional and camp wide programs with the older campers. Our TOBB campers experience their first cook-out meal and learning about the outdoors in a fun-filled adventure. The program culminates with our TOBB campers and First Session campers participating together in the two day Maccabiah event – sure to bring laughter and spirit to every participant.
Kifirim (10 Years)
Campers born in 2001
Our 13 day program session offers first time and returning Taste of BB Campers to explore all facets of camp programming in a well supervised and supportive environment. All activities are run at an introductory level with a focus on fun. Campers participate in cabin based programming and sectional activities and enjoy an opportunity to pursue an area of personal interest daily during SIG time (Special Interest Groups). Kifirim campers also have an opportunity to hike and experience a two day overnight learning about the outdoors and sleeping in a tent.
Kachot (11 Years)
Campers born in 2000
Kachot campers are presented with new challenges for growth and skill development. The well-rounded program is designed to offer this age group a wide spectrum of traditional activities that focus on team building, leadership development and advanced learning and of course, fun. Campers enjoy their first “canoe trip” to the back side of the island for an adventurous three day overnight.
Second Session (Three Weeks)
Ruach/Chavura (12 & 13 Years)
Campers born in 1998 - 1999
This session program has been redesigned to offer new options and personal choices in three major areas of camp activities. All Ruach and Chavura campers will have an opportunity to participate in all activities at camp and focus on advanced skill development. As well, campers will have an opportunity to select an area of interest that they can explore and enjoy while at Camp. All campers will participate in an overnight experience – the length will vary depending upon the program track. We recognize that every child comes to BB Camp to achieve different goals – some may want to explore the outdoors while others prefer being on camp and pursuing a specific skills or interest.
BB Camp will offer a free activity rotation (camper driven) to all Ruach and Chavura campers. The rotations will offer sessions in creative arts (music/drama), arts n crafts, sports, and outdoor based activities. Each rotaton will be focus on skill building and various components of the track will be led by guest instructors and facilitators providing expertise to the program areas
Abirut (14 Years)
Campers born in 1997
For our oldest onsite campers, Abirut focuses on social development and self-esteem building, using a blend of specialty programs and an extended 11 day canoe trip. With more advanced skill building and added leadership activities, Abirut campers gain a strong appreciation for the outdoors and learning how to live cooperative in a group setting. Abirut campers return to BB Camp a few days earlier than the other two sessions and participate in a unique program known as Abirut Island – a series of programs specially designed for our oldest campers.
